Randy Bachman - October 24 2014 - Mississauga Living Arts Centre

When one thinks about true Canadian Music icons, there are only a handful of names that pop up. For me, at the very top of the list is none other than Guess Who? founding member, Bravebelt, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Ironhorse and other solo project icon, Randy Bachman.

One of the very first albums I ever bought was a BTO album. Between three of us kid in the neighborhood (in 1976/77), we had the entire BTO catalog and would spend hours listening to Randy, Fred, Rob and Tim (later Blair) blast straight forward, in your face, blue collar hard rock. I remember my mother not allowing me to go to a 1976 BTO concert at the Civic Centre in Ottawa, even though we were right across the street at my Grandparents. I was very disappointed at the time.

From the mid 1980's on I have seen Randy perform with BTO, Cummings Bachman and solo a few times and on October 24 2014 we once again saw him and "Randy's Vinyl Tap Tour" at the Mississauga Living Arts Centre. This time from front and centre!

He told the stories behind all of his icon tracks like Shaking All Over, These Eyes, No Sugar, American Woman, Let It Ride, Looking Out For Number 1 and of course Takin' Care of Business (aka White Collar Worker) among others. An entertaining evening and a nostalgic trip down through some of the history of Canadian Rock over the last 50 years.
